The Starting Vision

MLD aka Melting Lemon Drop was born out of a vision of encouraging people to create love through food, conversations, research and sharing stories on these. Many of us have known love through the language of food while growing up. So it is hard to understand or explain how this differs across different places and cultures.

Why is this important?

It is always exciting for us to have different perspectives to ignite our creativity and imagination. People are different, their physical and emotional makeup is different. How they explore, engage and establish trust or collaboration with others over a meal is sometimes fascinating.

Shared meals are more fun when we have the company of people we love or those who interest us. Sometimes it is a bit of a chore. But at all times it is the heart and soul of a home, friendship and a crisscrossing network of families.

Some people actually prefer to eat alone in silence while others enjoy it more while watching TV, listening to music or seeing something on their phones. Yet others love to share their food over a conversation with friends, colleagues and family. It really depends.

A collaboration of contributions

Here’s our attempt to mindfully engage other contributors to share their joys and struggles with food- cooking and eating it. It is a bit of a science and also an art. That balance is important to understand. While many coaches and trainers talk a lot about the science behind food and its impact on how the human body functions, I feel that mostly it is a personal choice. It also has a lot to do with how important food, creativity, art, culture, travel, friends and family are to a person. The human story behind the dish is as fascinating as the food item itself.

This is a social experiment to see how people come forth with their own stories around food, art, travel and kindling conversations and relationships with others in the process. Sometimes it is about sharing recipes and tips. But at all times, it is to inspire people to cook and share food that they love.

What do we hope to achieve?

At the end of the day, it is to invite people to explore more and be open to adventures, experimentation and sharing. We learn, we live, we grow. The senses guide us as much as sensibility.
