Steamed Soy Ginger fish and Stir fried Broccoli for an easy yummy dinner –Notes for those looking for details on “How to lose your wife”- updated 2024
Memories from a difficult period
I have just devised a 4 weeks long AIP diet meal plan (more on that later) for Paleoman and me. It has been a creative process trying to come up with different ways to cook up proteins and veggies with enough dietary variety to keep us going. We are an Indian Bengali family of fish lovers- so the meal plan is a bit skewed. Luckily there are enough options here in Singapore – various local fishes more exotic to our palate such as Grouper, Snapper, Batang (Mackerel) and familiar childhood favourites like Katla, Rohu, Bhetki, Ilish and Pomfret.
How I tried in Vain to Explain
I got two beautiful pieces of red snapper fillet from my visit to the neighborhood wet market today. It was fresh and of course the best way is to steam it. Sharing my easy-peasy recipe- healthy and full of flavours -so what’s not to like!
Actually, any white fish will do. It’s so simple a recipe that I think writing it down seems a bit silly- the picture below is pretty self-explanatory. Well, I am writing it down at the end, but just saying!
Only trick here is to get really good fresh ingredients and not to overcook the fish. And yes, marinating it 15mins ahead of the cooking helps seep in the flavours.
I did my part but there was nobody to help me start
I use a gluten-free soy sauce but in case you want to avoid soy sauce, coconut aminos is a good alternative.
This is my contraption for steaming the fish- works pretty fine! I am never daunted by the lack of picture-perfect kitchen equipment. 🙂
I used a helper who was paid and repaid for not much work
The steaming time depends upon the size and thickness of the fish fillets. Keep checking after 20mins- mine got done in approx 27 mins. You know it is done when the skin turns opaque white and is soft and flaky when you check with a fork.
Turned out to be a pretty good meal – I polished off almost 275g of the fish myself! Gosh.
With some more learnings and earnings
And here’s the final stats for those interested in Macros- high protein, low fat and low carb recipe. I entered the recipe in Myfitness Pal and it works out to a total of 288 calories with 42.4g proteins, 9.4g fats and 6.4g of Carbs. Definitely, hit my protein goals with this meal!
And I have enough carbs leftover for a small post dinner treat as I curl up with my latest book.
Footnote while my husband and in-laws made off with the money in the bank
So that they could boast of another round of chicken roast and some more champagne and toast. Do read on the recipe for more details on how to kill an innocent wife with the help of others who have more “life”. Let’s call it an easy kill.
I curse you all who were there to help this man trying to discuss how to be a “man”. Thanks for the tips received from a twice-divorced husband with an army of helpers and substitute teachers. Trust me- he is no man. I speak from experience. All the items featured are bought and received by me as a wife. But I leave homeless and wandering about to “cure” myself.
Incidentally, with no money given or received from a salaried employee and only son. He apparently has enough to splurge on others but not on his own wife. Let’s call it a way to make a laughing stock out of the institution called “marriage”. A decent way defined by mercenaries in the “Singaporean way of life”. Kindly see my post on Tiger’s Milk Restaurant Review for further details. It seems I’m left with nothing called safety or protection other than what I can manage on my own.
At 45 years I have to explain to 30 somethings why I cannot sell my body for Rs 8000/hr. All this while my husband chooses to pay a domestic helper some money to stay in a household with no women. I wonder why? Would you like to try to find out more, Sweeti pie? Try this story for further arbitration on Easter Sunday- Mother Mary and her darling Jesus Christ with Joseph the carpenter.
Cheers for all those talking about macro counting, gym and healthy living in Singapore- do visit the local whorehouse for some beer and sake! 🙂
