Valentine ‘s Day is just around the corner! As our social media feeds fill up with love-themed content, the excitement for creating memorable moments grows. Remember, expressing love isn’t just about the price tag of a gift; it’s about the thoughtfulness behind every cherished moment on this special day.
Valentine ‘s Day is celebrated by showing appreciation to loved ones, friends, and family through various gestures, highlighting love, affection, and gratitude towards those who matter most.
Pastries: A Culinary Love Language
The word “pastry” comes from the Latin word pasta, meaning dough. While some may argue that pancakes don’t fit the traditional pastry mold, in Nigerian homes, anything made with flour qualifies as a pastry! Pancakes are our go-to treat—easy to whip up and perfect for any occasion.

The Delight of Sausage Buns
Sausage buns may not be as common in homes as regular sausage rolls, but they are a unique treat worth trying. I first tasted sausage buns at a church event—they were delicious! I didn’t hesitate to compliment the chef and ask for the recipe, which sparked my journey to mastering this delightful pastry.

There’s a story about someone who tried tried and tried
Sometimes there were moments when the brain was fried
Hair turned frizzy and the face got swollen
I do understand the passion of bakers and makers
So, to those creators, I wish you get some time to have a relaxed Sunday
And you have a few friends and loved ones around to see you through to Monday
I gave up the pursuit of Valentine’s Day
Someone pulled me to try something for Galentine’s Day
I even remember younger days of the Lonely-Hearts Club 🙂
Finally, what’s true is pastries, something sweet, something savoury
And sometimes a little walk outside in the park for a bird called Avery.
Sharing my love for those who like pancakes and sausages,
I used to love these treats- still do once in a while.
They may be called something else
In some other places of the world. A search online is really fun
Even more to experience them yourselves. 😉
